Bienestar in partnership with The Asian American Drug Abuse Program, Inc. (AADAP), Being Alive, California Syringe Exchange Programs (CASEP), Feed the Streets, Los Angeles Community Health Project, The Drug Policy Alliance, and The Sidewalk Project have joined ranks to condemn the California State Legislature and Governor Newsom for cutting lifesaving funding for harm reduction in the 2022-23 state budget.
This August 31st on Overdose Awareness Day at 1:00PM a rally will be held in front of Los Angeles City Hall to express our grief and anger that our communities are further marginalized and neglected by the rejection of Senate Bill 57. SB-57 would have established Overdose Prevention Programs including Safer drug Consumption Sites (SCS), a medically proven solution to prevent overdoses by offering a supervised, safe, and sterile environment for those who use injectable drugs to consume pre-obtained substances.
