LOS ANGELES, CA - Today, a federal court in California issued its ruling on the case in Perry et al v. Schwarzenegger et al.  The federal court has ruled that Prop 8 is unconstitutional on the grounds of violating the federal Due Process and the Equal Protection clauses of the U.S. Constitution, much like the civil right decisions issued decades ago.

White House announces the first National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States

Dear Colleague:

 

This week the White House announced the first national HIV/AIDS strategy for the United States. Its laudable goals include reducing the number of new HIV infections by 25 percent within the next five years, and increasing the proportion of newly diagnosed patients linked to clinical care within three months of their HIV diagnosis from 65 percent to 85 percent.  In order to accomplish these goals the strategy sets forth a central directive: focus our public investment to achieve maximal response.   For too long our response has been as if everyone, or every group, is at equal risk of infection.  It's time we had a comprehensive and effective national strategy to combat HIV/AIDS which focuses federal resources on Read More

April 30, 2010- The interest on the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Latino Community continues to increase, as it was evident by the participation of members of Congress and the White House at BIENESTAR’s 5thCongressional Briefing.
