Commemorating a Successful National HIV Testing Week

This week Bienestar Human Services, Inc. (BIENESTAR) launched "National HIV Testing Week."  BIENESTAR offered free, fast and confidential testing services, in English and Spanish, at their six Los Angeles area centers in an effort to substantially reduce undiagnosed HIV infections in the Los Angeles area. June 27th was "National HIV Testing Day," a nationwide effort created and led by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) to reach millions of Americans at risk for HIV and increase their awareness of the critical importance of HIV prevention, testing, early diagnosis, and early treatment. In honor of International Day Against Homophobia on May 17, a group of community members, faith leaders, celebrities, mental health experts, and elected official joined together to raise awareness of homophobia and discrimination that can begin all too soon within the home.

SENATOR CEDILLO HONORS PROYECTO ORGULLO OF BIENESTAR AT COMMUNITY IMMIGRATION FORUM

Last Friday on August 20, 2010 at BIENESTAR East Los Angeles, the organization's Advocacy and Social Justice Program Proyecto Orgullo (Project Pride) hosted an Immigration Reform Community Forum for the Latino Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community.
