SERVICES/SERVICIOS

BIENESTAR’s services provide individuals in the Latino community who are infected or affected with HIV/AIDS with the resources, information, skills, and support necessary to enhance health and overall well-being.  All services are free of charge and offered in both English and Spanish. 

Case Management: We work with HIV+ clients to access public benefits, set up medical appointments, adhere to treatment, and connect our clients to social support networks. We also assist with transportation to medical appointments.

Treatment Education: We ensure that clients understand the effects of HIV on their body, their treatment options, and the side effects of medication.

Housing Assistance: We provide referrals to emergency and temporary shelters in the San Fernando/Los Angeles areas, as well as assistance in applying for HOPWA, and other subsidized housing programs.

Legal Services: We provide our clients with legal advice regarding housing discrimination, income tax assistance, immigration, and/or labor disputes.  Services are for HIV positive individuals and by appointment only.

Food Bank: Nutritionally balanced food is provided to HIV positive clients living in the East LA area on a monthly basis.  All clients accessing this service also receive nutrition counseling. 

Translation Services: We offer English to Spanish translation services of printed medical materials and documents for clients who neither speak nor read English. We also offer translation services for medical providers who have monolingual Spanish clients. 

Mental Health: Our services include counseling, crisis intervention assistance, coping strategies, and support during the process of disclosing one’s HIV status.

 

Manejadores de Casos: Trabajamos con clientes que son VIH+ y les damos información, apoyo con consultas y remisiones a diferentes servicios sociales y grupos de apoyo. Proveemos apoyo con transportación para citas médicas.

Educación del Tratamiento: No aseguramos que nuestros clientes estén bien informados sobre medicamentos disponibles, sus opciones de tratamiento, y efectos secundarios del medicamento.

Servicios de Vivienda: Proveemos asistencia para el alquiler de apartamento o casa a través del programa Federal de oportunidades de vivienda para personas viviendo con el VIH/SIDA.

Servicios Legales para Personas infectadas por el VIH/SIDA: Brindamos consejos legales sobre discriminación, problemas de vivienda, Inmigración, tutoría y adopción, impuestos, problemas laborales, testamentos y, poderes legales.

Banco De Comida: Proveemos comida nutricional para clientes VIH+, que vivan en el Este de los Ángeles.  Los clientes también reciben conserjería sobre la nutrición.

Servicios de Traducción: Proveemos servicios de interpretación de documentos médicos, y traducciones para citas si con proveedores médicos y sociales.

Salud Mental: Nuestros servicios incluyen conserjería, intervención de crisis y apoyo durante el proceso de revelación de estatus de VIH.
