Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Education

Utilizing a prevention and harm reduction philosophy, BIENESTAR teams educate the community on techniques to reduce their substance abuse behaviors and their associated risk of exposure to HIV and hepatitis.  Health educators also provide referrals for individuals who are seeking drug recovery programs.

Individual and Community-Level Health Education

Bienestar hosts educational forums and psychoeducational groups to provide information and opportunities to discuss topics such as HIV, AIDS, sexual orientation, and STD prevention strategies.

Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services (CRCS)

This program focuses on individuals who are at a very high risk for exposure to HIV. The program provides one-on-one sessions aim to reduce the risk of HIV infection among men who have sex with men (MSM) and the transgender community. 

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Services

Various support services specific to the LGBT community provide a safe space for individuals to address the issues of sexuality and culture. 

HIV Testing

The program has a store front operation in the City of Long Beach. The program is also available throughout our different centers via our Mobile Testing Unit. Click here for more information.

Support Groups

We offer support groups for the following populations:

  • Lesbian and bisexual women

  • Gay and Bisexual Men

  • Young women between 14 and 24 years old

  • Transgender Women

  • Queer Youth

  • Men who have sex with men and women (VOCES/VOICES)

  • Women who are living with HIV/AIDS

  • Gay and bisexual men living with HIV/AIDS

  • Transgender women living with HIV/AIDS

  • Heterosexual men and women who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDS

  • Individuals dealing with substance use
