¡Acceso, Educación, Movilización...La Solución Para Nuestra Comunidad!

Services > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender

LGBT people of color are impacted by both marginalization and oppression, and this in turns impacts their risk for contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Homophobia also continues to challenge the overall well being of our community. Celebrating the diversity of our culture, Bienestar offers a wide array of LGBT support services that deal with the complexity and sensitive nature of culture and sexuality.

Programs under this category include: SOL (Strength Orgullo Latino), LUNA (Latinas Understanding the Need for Action), ShaMEN Retreat Program, TU (Transgéneros Unidas), SABORES (Youth Programs). Most of these programs are offered at each of the eight BIENESTAR centers, but it is recommended that you call first to get the latest information.

CONFIDENTIAL HIV TESTING
Key to our LGBT Education and Prevention services is the provision of HIV Testing, which is offered at all of our centers and through all of our programs for clients and their partners. It is free and confidential. We utilize Orasure testing, so there is no need to draw blood. The services are bilingual and offered at accessible times to members of our community. Results are available one week after your test. A strong referral component is attached to this service maximizing a client's Referrals are offered to those who wish to access to other social and medical services available in their community.
